There was this one summer where I think I may have stayed outside to watch the sunsert every night. I had just gotten my DSLR and I was so excited to document God's paintings. Sometimes I just stayed in the road in front of my house, sometimes I went exploring. A lot of the time I climbed the mountain to get a good vantage point of the whole city.
I love sunsets. They always leave me wanting more though.
When Cameron and I first started dating in the Summer of 2009, we spent our evenings watching the sunset from our "spot", a dam built in between our houses. He sat with me night after night while I took endless photos. I like to think that's when he fell in love with me; looking back, I should have realized he did fall in love quickly if he would spend that much time with me to ensure I got some great shots.
And even more than Cameron's love, sunsets remind me daily of God's love for me. Sometimes, when I would be up on the mountain, alone with just me and my camera, I would feel that He painted the sky just for me. I usually went up to the mountain when I needed to get away - even though it was just a 5 minute drive, I could be alone with just the sunset and the mountain and God; we would sing to each other.
Shine Your light so I can see You
God uses things to speak to each of us. For me, it has always been sunsets. At the end of a long day, I am reminded that He was there with me through it all, and now that the day is coming to a close, He is still there.
